I was curious about the background of paintball so I took it upon myself to research the sport. The main information that showed was about how it started, where it started, and the rules you follow. My resources show that paintball started in the beginnings of the 1980’s. When paintball first started, people would throw paint pellets toward other people.
This process is done by using a gas powered paintball gun. Try to avoid the term “gun” because people in the sport like to use the word marker. Paintball marker would be the politically correct way to say it.
Through my research I found that the game could be played indoors or outdoors, so I had to find a place that would be interesting to play at. Once I found somewhere I called up my friends and asked them if they would like to play paintball. Of course they thought it would be an awesome idea because they have never heard of the game before. So we talked about it and decided to make a team.
So now we had to find a paintball supply store so we can get what we needed. Unfortunately we didn’t have a paintball store in my town because it was very small. I decided that I was going to drive to a further town that was bigger so I could what we needed.
I was quite lucky since I just went into one big store and purchased enough paintball equipment for my team of about twelve people. I bought masks, complete markers, and of course the paintballs. I also got the rules of play manual.
We divided ourselves into two opposing teams each comprising of six people. We then went through the rules of play and also got to familiarize ourselves with the equipment. We then went over the rules and agreed that overshooting was not allowed and anyone caught doing it was to be eliminated from the game.
Also everyone agreed upon not to ramp because we were all new to the game of paintball. All 12 of us decided that camouflage clothing was what we were going to wear because we were very serious about playing paintball even though this game was new to us.
Each of the two teams picked out team leaders and we all decided to play the game in the afternoons since most of us if not all of us were free. The game has become very popular amongst kids in our neighborhood and they all want to join in. It is not easy to turn down the eager kids but there is an age limit as well as lack of insufficient equipment to consider.
